Like many of you, safety of my children is my top priority – especially when behind the wheel.  I am always checking and doublechecking while driving, but especially while backing the vehicle up!  It only takes a second for a terrible accident to occur.  My heart breaks when I hear of these devestating stories of accidents while someone is backing up, causing oftentimes fatal injuries to children.

Many parents are taking safety standards into their own hands, with a lawsuit recently being filed demanding that the Department of Transportation (DOT) set rear visibility standards for vehicles, as required by a law passed in 2008. Families understand the importance of rear-view camera assistance for their cars in helping them eliminate blind zones as they back up.

While it is still uncertain when the DOT will begin enforcing this regulation, parents can take the safety of their families into their own hands now by installing a wireless back-up camera to their own vehicles. People often don’t realize how simple the installation is (takes less than 15 minutes to install!) and with brands like PEAK it’s a cost effective option, too.

About the PEAK Back up Camera:
  • The PEAK® Back-Up Camera comes with a full LCD color monitor, which securely affixes to your windshield with suction cup mounts for easy-to-see rear coverage. A water resistant color camera attaches to the back of your vehicle’s license plate for complete rear view coverage, and is simple to install, taking just minutes to install in on most vehicles.
  • The PEAK Back-up Camera is available at Walmart and auto retailers nationwide
  • The PEAK Back-up Camera is perfect for families with children or pets and can be installed on cars, SUV’s, Trucks, RV or Campers.

I love the idea of the PEAK Back-Up Camera and my husband is looking forward to installing it into his car. Stay tuned for some photos of the installation.  His car is older, so he has to make a few adjustments to make it compatible with his car.  Other than that, it's easy and quick installation!  Check out the video below!
