Great America is so much FUN for the whole family!

I have gone to Six Flags Great America since I was a child.  We used to go as kids and fill our days with so much fun that we were tuckered out and slept the whole way home!  Given the opportunity to share in this excitement with my children and create our own memories, I jumped at the chance! Unfortunately, it was a little chilly the day we went so we didn't get to take advantage of any of the water rides at Hurricane Harbor.

We started out our day around noon.  With a family of 6, it's hard for all of us to get up and ready to be somewhere before 11!  When we got there, the line was super long, but it was efficient and moved quickly.  We went right from the entrance over to the Sky Trek Tower.  I caught this awesome picture of the grounds before we started exploring.

My husband went over to take my older children on the Carousel.  I have one child who has high anxiety and didn't want to participate in many, if any, rides, so I basically hung out with him while he colored.  The kids LOVED the carousel!  It's second level had them sold as soon as walked through the gates!

From there we ventured over to the Hometown Fun Machine where my husband and daughter enjoyed a few rides.  My sons and I get motion sickness, so we sat this one out!

From there we went on over and enjoyed some time for the little ones at Kidzopolis.  This is where we spent the majority of our day.  Since we have three little ones who don't do many rides, this was perfect.  There was something for everyone and my husband was able to go off with my daughter and do a few more daring rides...like the classic American Eagle.  But, that did her in and she ended up back at Kidzopolis for the rest of the afternoon.

After hanging out and finally talking my oldest son into it, we headed over to the Whizzer and went on that...over and over again until our evening was over and we had to go home.  Hopefully next time we are there we will be able to experience more.  It was a learning experience for us as we have never been there with our busy family.  But, there are plenty of character meet and greets to keep the younger ones happy!  We had a great time meeting all of the characters.  Here are a couple of my favorite pictures!

My advise?  If you have younger children that enjoy rides, hang out at Kidzopolis.  The more hands the merrier so that you have enough people to sit with all the kids and keep them all happy and doing what it is that they want to do.  It was hard because we only have one thrill seeker among our four children. I get motion sickness, so I wasn't much fun, but my husband was able to entertain my daughter, for the most part.

Also...keep in mind that if you are driving from Milwaukee, you will have to pay parking...and it isn't cheap!  We ended up having to pay $25 at the gate.  NOT cheap at all.
