If you don't need Alka Seltzer for an antacid it cleans really well!
If you have a vase, thermos or other item that is hard to clean you can drop the Alka Seltzer in there and let it sit for about an hour. You may need to repeat but it should loosen any remains that you cannot reach with your dish sponge.
