We were lucky enough to see Shrek the Musical at the Milwaukee Theatre last night. I have to be honest and say I didn't quite know what to expect. Let me just say, when the show was over I was disappointed and the audience seemed to feel the same sentement. The cast and crew got a standing ovation! It was a GREAT show. My six year old and five year old enjoyed the show, but I would recommend it more for older children (maybe 8 and up). However, that's not to say your child would not enjoy it...my children LOVED it! From a parent's viewpoint, that is where I had the mixed feelings. There is a lot of adult humor as there was in the movie (but this went right over my children's heads). There is also a lot of "potty humor" - as we call it in my house. That's what roped my children in and had them (and, I must admit, me) giggling nonstop throughout those specific scenes. The cast had an amazing set of lungs...great voices that sounded fantastic throughout the Theatre. WOW! I was amazed at the talent throughout the entire performance. The costume changes and the set were very well transitioned and put together seamlessly. I highly recommend this for a date night or even for a family show. I would surely go see it again...with or without the children.

The Milwaukee Theatre is an amazing venue full of history and character! I love going to see shows there and am so grateful that we are able to partner with them on a regular basis promoting their shows.
