Archived movies now on DVD!

I consider myself a decent movie buff.  I love "old movies".  Black and white is fine with me but older movies can be difficult to find on VHS or DVD-I won't even consider Blu-Ray for some.  I have spent over $50 on a VHS only because it is so difficult to find some movies. There is a DVD I desperately want but it is over $200!  YIKES!  I am saving up my Swagbucks for Amazon gift cards.
